Hi Peet,

I brought the Synology box to my house. Susan is moving and I wanted to complete my instructions to her. I connected it to LAN2 on my Netgear router. I can connect to the SMB shares but can't connect to the admin UI. When I connect to find.synology.com it says not found. I downloaded the Assistant and at first it didn't show, but after checking "allow compatibility with devices that do not support password encryption" in the settings, it shows now, but won't connect. Says it can't be reached.

Ideas?

Thanks!
~jb

JB,

Sorry I spaced getting back to you here. LAN 2 and LAN 3 are set to DHCP. LAN 1 is configured static on the ip 192.168.100.25.

To be clear, you're plugged into one of the ones marked in green here

JB,

I don't know what type of router/DHCP server you have on your home network, but if you look at your router you should at least see that the port is connected and more than likely see the MAC address of the NAS.

The router is a Netgear Nighthawk R7300. Yes, I noted in your original instructions that LAN1 was static, which is why I tried LAN2 and LAN3. Here's what I see:

The router shows the connection and the MAC address.

The Synology Assistant sees it as well:

I highlight the NAS and click Connect and get "This site can't be reached."
"http://10.0.0.3:5000/?timestamp=1748710477 is unreachable."

Trying find.synology.com with Firefox, I get:

so that's why I sent the email. I left the default settings in the router because if someone down the road connects, chances are they would use a similar router with default DHCP settings. As you can see, the router is handing out the DHCP address. There is a setting to allow the modem to do that, but most likely, a user down the road won't have that changed.

JB really not sure what it's doing, but since its visible on the network, the HTTPS management interface should bring it up ...

If not, plug in port 3 and the MGMT port and lets see what we can see.
