Hi, Peet. Are you able to troubleshoot with me tomorrow morning? I’ve attempted to start my laptop eight plus times this evening, and it’s not working. What is the process to buy a new Dell laptop? I believe mine is 13.1” across (diagonally). Thanks, Pat (406) 360-0742

Pat, Glad to help you get started this AM. For a new computer. I agree that it's time for a new computer. And shopping this one has been less than straight forward. TLDR: For your workload, I'd recommend a Snapdragon X laptop, either the [Microsoft Surface Laptop Gen 7 13"](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/d/surface-laptop-for-business-copilot-pc-snapdragon/8tkcbz02bdvk) or the [Dell Latitude 7455 14"](https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/latitude-7455-laptop/spd/latitude-14-7455-laptop). From the reviews I've seen the Surface was rated slightly higher, but both will have the same performance as they are spec'd nearly identically sized. Surface: 11.85 x 8.67 x 0.69 inches and 2.96 pounds, Latidude: 12.36 x 8.81 x 0.67 inches and 2.17 pounds. Like I mentioned Microsoft has been pushing into the ARM processor space (like Apple M series processors for macOS) for their computers with the Snapdragon X processors. The [Microsoft Surface Laptop Gen 7 13"](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/d/surface-laptop-for-business-copilot-pc-snapdragon/8tkcbz02bdvk) with a Snapdragon X Elite processor, 512GB of storage and 16GB of memory is right at the $1,500 mark. The similarly spec'd [Dell Latitude 7455 14"](https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/latitude-7455-laptop/spd/latitude-14-7455-laptop) with a Snapdragon X Elite processor, 512GB of storage and 16GB of memory is right around $1,575 mark. Like I said, there are a few thing the Snapdragon/ARM processor is not suited for on windows, but for your workload it's well suited and provides longer battery life and cooler/quieter running. For x86/Intel based processors Dell still has the XPS lineup of laptops which used to be my go to recommendation. However, they've changed the keyboard to a very shallow keystroke and removed the bezels between the keys. The FN keys are also capacitive and only react to a touch. The touchpad also has no defined edges: [embedded image] I have a couple clients that have this new design and don't have an issue with it, but they also use their laptop mostly docked with a separate keyboard and mouse. An XPS 13 Laptop 9350 similarly spec'd to the Snapdragon Elite Surface Laptop and Latitude but with an Intel processor is right at 1500 as well A Latitude 5350 Laptop (non touch) spec'd very much like the XPS 13 is $1400. A touch screen would raise the pricing, but it has the more classic dell laptop design: [embedded image]
