#30457 MS Office Suite - spinning wheel of death when using menu

For several weeks I’ve been having a very difficult time with Microsoft Office products, (Word and Excel). Specifically, anytime I try to do anything in the File menu I get a spinning wheel of death. Eventually the wheel goes away, but the action I was trying to execute fails to materialize. Two examples:

Opening a file – If I go to File, Open, then the wheel spins for a minute or so then goes away. The file menu never appears.

Saving – If I’m in a document, and I want to save a file under a new name in order to start a new version, as soon as I go to File, Save As, I get the spinning wheel of death for 30s to 1m. Eventually the wheel goes away but I never get a file directory or the option to save a file.

In these cases I work around this by going into Finder. I can open files from Finder and duplicate them. However, this is a slow way to work.

I have updated all software and I have restarted my computer multiple times to try to improve this. No changes.
