Hi Peet, One of our employees is departing and he will be keeping the laptop. I plan to wipe it remotely at an agreed upon time and date. Just so I'm clear, I click the device, go to More > Erase Device? Then afterward, remove it from MDM? FYI: Device name: PAR-230-KK SN: C02YJ473JG5J Thanks, ~jb -- * JohnBelobraidic P A R T N E R S C R E A T I V E 603 Woody Street Missoula, Montana 59802 406 541 2263 [partnerscreative.com](http://partnerscreative.com/)

I'm not 10000% sure how activation lock works with the wipe. I'd probably do the following: Disable Activation Lock (Looks like it already is): [embedded image] Send an Erase: [embedded image] Make sure the erase hit the device by speaking with the end user. Then delete from Mosyle: [embedded image] Release from Apple Business Manager: [embedded image] After all the above is done ... only then try to setup the device again.

Thanks. He will have it in Spokane so he'll have to load OS in recovery mode. Eventually, I'll have to do this with most of the rest. Partners is planning to let the users keep their laptops. ~jb On Tue, Oct 24, 2023 at 4:07 PM Artichoke Support - Peet <[email protected]> wrote:

As long as the device is T2, the computer will "Erase all Contents and Settings" and be at the regular setup screen after a wipe. The key is that it's fully released from Apple Business (and probably deleted from Mosyle as well) before connecting to network after the wipe. Cheers.Peet

What about the non-T2 computers? (11 of them, two of which are remote workers) On Wed, Oct 25, 2023 at 10:59 AM Artichoke Support - Peet <[email protected]> wrote:

Make sure to create a USB installer to reinstall after the wipe. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372 or for ease use Mac Recovery: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/use-macos-recovery-on-an-intel-based-mac-mchl338cf9a8/mac#:~:text=Restart%20your%20Mac.,other%20apps%20in%20macOS%20Recovery.https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/use-macos-recovery-on-an-intel-based-mac-mchl338cf9a8/mac#:~:text=Restart%20your%20Mac.,other%20apps%20in%20macOS%20Recovery. My preference is the USB installer as it's faster during the install. But Mac Recovery works without additional steps but adds the likely need to upgrade the OS after re-install - Option-Shift-Command-R:Start up from macOS Recovery over the internet. Use this key combination to reinstall the version of macOS that came with your Mac or the closest version that’s still available. Cheers.Peet
