#23450 computer not charging

Subject: computer not charging Description: Immediately after rebooting after the last update that was pushed out, my battery crashed and will only charge to 36%. I have replaced the battery twice; most recently in Nov 2022. I have read about potential motherboard and/or bios issues affecting charging. If I unplus the charger, the battery indicator will cycle 4 to 5 times and then stop. Also the light indicator next to the plug is indicating charged (blue) rather than charging (orange). Can you look at my system remotely to determine if the bios is up-to-date and if the motherboard is working properly? Or should I take my laptop to a computer repair shop? I am currently keeping my computer plugged in as I have critical reports to deliver on 5/15/2023.

I have not yet heard back from Peet. My computer continues to deteriorate.

My hope is that I can buy a new computer, and Peet can configure it remotely.

Edee,

There's one possible trick to having a battery that's not charging start to charge on windows. And that's to delete the batter from the Device Manager. If your computer is on/available, I can delete that for you. If the folks that replaced the battery did not delete the "Battery" in device manger, it can cause it not to charge. BUT that shouldn't happen months later..

I have a meeting until 11 or 11:15 MDT. If your computer's on I can control it and give that a try ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Other than that I can assist with a new computer if it's shipped here, I can configure it and send it your way.

Here's my thought on for a computer with current architecture and a number pad ...

It doesn't have the high resolution screen that your current laptop does, but it's a bit slimmer and technically lighter. 4.19 lbs vs 4.32 lb and 14.05 in. vs 14.96 in.

To be clear you are not planning to com to Missoula simply to pick up this computer, correct? I can easily send the computer via FedEx and you can redirect to your nearest FedEx location: https://www.fedex.com/en-us/shipping/hold-at-location.html. I cannot fathom you'd be traveling just for the computer, but I'd like to be sure.

I have it cleaned up and added to management. I'd like to look at your current computer to make sure I've configured and installed everything you'll be looking for as well as to ensure the data on your current computer is correctly stored in cloud storage (OneDrive).

I've created a 1Password Vault named "Edee And Peet". You can add credentials there that I can use to finish the setup of your comptuer.

I know we did not have you logging into your computer via the FRP domain and that you had your own user/pass. Do you currently log into your computer with a Microsoft Account? I feel like you are/should be. If you'd like to log into this computer with the same Microsoft account, please add your personal Microsoft Account and credentials to a record in the "Edee And Peet" vault. If you do the same with your "[email protected]" M365 account and your "[email protected]" 1Password account information, I can configure most everything for you.

Please let me know a time that I can take a look at your computer to make sure this is as simple a transition as possible? If you put your current computer account password (and computer PIN if you have one) in the Edee and Peet vault I can check the computer at most any time if it's simply on and online.

I'm running into two issues so far:
1. I am getting logged out of gmail when I go to another app, such as outlook.
2. My 1password is not working for Our Family; I cannot unlock the new account. I tried both the 1password and Microsoft passwords.

The gmail issue appears to have resolved itself (I have my old computer shut off at the moment; don't know if that has any impact). I still need to do the file comparison before doing the factory reset on the old computer. It may take me a while...

Hi,
A couple of questions on computer security:
1. I am getting a warning indicator on Core Isolation. - see snip
2. Location device is turned off and I cannot turn it on even if I activate Make Me Admin. Can you activate this? It is activated on my hp laptop.
