Hey Peet!

As I'm sure you received Troy's email (sorry for the delay in my reply), we are attempting to change the AppleID of an old Alpha Graphics ipad to ours. I've been told that the email associated with that AppleID no longer exists. My husband, who works in IT Support, said its as easy as creating that email again, to be able to change that AppleID password and unlock that ipad. Is this something you can help me with? Please let me know if a phone or in person conversation would be easier!

Could you send me the serial number of the device. Also what is the email that is currently entered as an AppleID on the device?

Hey Peet,

The Serial Number is DMRW5FZ6JF8J
And the email associate with the AppleID is [email protected]

I see the device in the appleID account. It's in East Missoula, correct. Please make sure the iPad is offline and turned off. When off, it can be removed from the AppleID. Once it's turned back on it needs to be completely erased and updated or you'll have a difficult time with the device.

The iPad should no longer be locked to [email protected]. As an aside, regardless of whomever is donating Apple products (iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and/or macOS). Always make sure the device is completely wiped without activation lock.

Troy knows (now) to make sure devices are decommissioned before being donated, so this shouldn't happen in the future.
