All, There are quit a few options and most depend on your workflow. Could you all describe the tasks you need to perform when editing PDF's? The range of pricing for editing PDF's is between $0 (free PDF editing tools like PDFill) and $240/user/year for Acrobat Pro. With many options in-between. So I'd like to hit on a solution that really does fit your need/use case. An example of a full feature solution that I'm looking at for you is PDF-Xchange Plus $260 for 3 users with three years of support and maintenance. PDF-Xchange Pro $440 for 3 users with three years of support and maintenance. vs Adobe Acrobat Pro $2160 for 3 users for 3 years PDF-Xchange Plus is ~$50/yr for 3 user support/maint PDF-Xchange Pro is ~$70/yr for 3 user support/maint Or if you just need to perform a few simple tasks, PDFill Tools free may fit the bill at $0 Cheers.Peet

Peet— Gage and I both have Adobe Acrobat XI and that is what we use to edit pdf files. Sherie doesn’t have it anymore…can she get the same one we have? Does that cost anything? I don’t recall ever paying anything for Adobe Acrobat? Jill, The Acrobat XI on your machines is an OEM version that at was rolled over to your new computers (when it technically should not have been). Regardless Acrobat XI is deprecated/unsupported and we really do need to remove it and get you using something else. The Adobe-recommended path is an Acrobat pro @ $240/yr/user or an Acrobat Standard subscription @ $160/yr/user. The perpetual version of Acrobat 2020 Std. is $354/computer and will be supported util 6/1/2025 at which time it needs to be repurchased. The perpetual version of Acrobat 2020 pro. is $540/computer and will be supported util 6/1/2025 at which time it needs to be repurchased. The crux here is nailing down what tasks are being done when "editing" PDFs. An app like PDF-Xchange is highly rated, does everything a stand-alone Acrobat Pro can do and Is vastly less expensive. However depending on the required tasks, you may not even need an app like Acrobat Std/Pro or PDF-Xchange. Could you describe the editing tasks that are done with Acrobat Std X1? Thanks.peet

Peet, Most of the PDF edits involve moving or adding text. There are times when the color of something needs to be changed. Sherie From: Artichoke Support - Peet Sent: Thursday, October 20, 2022 3:08 PM To: Sherie TeSoro Cc: Gage Legare ; Jill Tripp Subject: PDF Editor (message id: 60818368)

Thanks for answering that, Sherie! I agree that our needs are pretty basic. The changing colors in a graph is probably the most complex. Okay. Moving and adding text as well as changing colors is above the free level of pdf products. Considering the long-term cost on any Adobe solution, I think looking at PDF-Xchange Plus is a good idea. The user interface is quite a bit different than Adobe Acrobat XI or Adobe Acrobat DC. But PDF-Exchange offers a free, limited, version of their Editor product for testing. I've testing a scripted install of the product and am pushing it to your computers. The PDF-Xchange Free offering does (and honestly should) feel a bit like an advertisement for buying the full version, in that it shows you features that you need the paid version to access, but allows you to use a large subset of features without paying. The application should be on all your computers shortly ... I'll keep an eye on the install for you. Here is a link to the steps to start basic editing in the application ... https://www.tracker-software.com/knowledgebase/390-How-do-I-use-PDF-XChange-Editor-to-edit-documents cheers.Peet

Yes I'll uninstall Acrobat XI when you're comfortable that PDF-Exchange will work. How's it look?

Hey Peet The pdf I edited this morning now has this icon in the corners of every page on the pdf. Any ideas for how we can remove this? The watermark is there on the free version. To remove it right now, re-edit the original with Acrobat XI. Other than the watermark was the editing easy and what you expected? Cheers.Peet

Double-clicking the attached file should license you for PDF-Xchange Plus. Let me know it does not license. As soon as you're licensed I'll send a command to uninstall Acrobat XI. cheers.Peet

Peet, I believe I did that correctly but for some reason the watermark is still appearing. Let me know how to proceed. Thanks, Gage From: Artichoke Support - Peet Sent: Monday, October 24, 2022 2:08 PM To: Sherie TeSoro Cc: Gage Legare ; Jill Tripp Subject: PDF Editor (message id: 60818368)

Gage, It does look like your PDF-XChange is registered (so is Sheri), so any new saves should not have the watermark. Do you meant that it is still appearing on the one(s) you already saved, or appearing on a newly edited PDF? If it's the former, that's to be expected as the PDF was created by the free version of the product. If it's the latter, newly saved PDF's still have the watermark, could you goto the Help -> About PDF-Xchange menu? It should show your license status. Thanks.Peet

Peet, It seems as though it is only showing up on documents that we had already saved, not on newly saved documents. Is there any way for us to remove the watermark from the “already saved” documents?
