Hi Peet, I’ll be wrapping up with Five Valleys this week and spending the first couple weeks of November transitioning from my role as Staff Attorney, cleaning up files and my office, getting organized, etc. I’ll be joining a small, Whitefish-based law firm, but I’ll maintain my office in Missoula. In fact, I’ll be renting the office in Five Valleys’ building that’s right next door to my current office. That office used to be Wendy Ninteman’s office. Wendy told me that she had an agreement with Five Valleys that she could use Five Valleys’ big printer downstairs in the copy room and pay per page printed. I’d like to look into whether that’s a possibility for me as well. Could you tell me if that system works, from your perspective? Could you install the print driver or whatever software is necessary on my new law firm computer (Mac laptop, same as my current FV computer), and could I then print from that computer to Five Valleys’ printer, even though I won’t be a staff member? If you think something like that would work, I’m of course happy to pay for your time in helping me get set up. Thanks! Alice, This should be fairly doable for you. Though I don't really know what the previous agreement with Wendy was, but it should be fairly trivial to allow you VPN access to the FVLT network and only allow you to communicate with the printer. I'm not at all sure about the accounting for such a setup. Do you have any more information from Wendy? Was the accounting simply an honor system reporting? Thanks.Peet

Hey Peet, I talked to Whitney, and she’s fine with me using the Five Valleys printer and paying per page that I print. Is there any chance you’d have time this week to install the print driver and set up a limited VPN access from my new laptop so that my computer can communicate with the printer? I’d be happy to drop off my new laptop at your office if that would make it easier on you. Also, just wanted to confirm that it’ll work for me connect to the printer over wifi using my new laptop. At the moment, I can’t print from my FVLT laptop unless I’m connected to the internet by ethernet cable. Thanks Peet! You want the "Kerio VPN client for M1 based machines" download on this page: https://www.gfi.com/products-and-solutions/network-security-solutions/kerio-control/resources/other-downloads/vpn. Unfortunately Kerio didn't have a decent walk through but here's a very clear walkthrough from Egnyte. You very likely will not notice any difference in the steps. The only real difference is that when you enable the actual KEXT after you "Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers", the developer name will be Kerio (or GFI) instead of "Egnyte Inc". When all is said and done, when you open Kerio Control VPN Client in System Preferences it should look like this: https://cln.sh/jaONWkgLXaWkupZDKO5J . With the status of "Disconnected". Hi Peet, I got stuck :( I downloaded Kerio VPN Client, but it says “error” at the top next to the red dot, not “disconnected.” I’ll be at the office for at least another hour if you happen to be available to help me problem solve… Thanks! Hey Peet, Here’s what I see when I open Kerio VPN. I think the issue is that I didn’t get to the “enable the KEXT” part of the process. I don’t recall seeing the words “allow user management of kernel extensions.” Here’s a photo of what I see when I open Kerio in System Preferences. I’ll be out all day tomorrow (Thursday), but available anytime after 1:00 on Friday if you happen to have time to help me out. Thank you! It looks like this link didn't get into my instructions. https://helpdesk.egnyte.com/hc/en-us/articles/360055258492-Desktop-App-M1-silicon-support After installing or reinstalling the Kerio VPN client, please follow the instructions above to enable the KEXT. Let me know if you don't see the appropriate link in "System Preferences" - "Security & Privacy". But I think with the above instructions, you'll be set.

I’m starting my new job officially on 12/1, and would be ideal if I could print from my new laptop by then.
