Peet It’s been a while. Hope this finds you well in these crazy times. I am pretty sure we have talked since my dad passed a little more than a year ago. When I have some free time I have been trying to catalogue his photos for the the rest of my family and his friends. He left his computer logged in, so I have access to the files. However I have now run into some snags where I would like to change things, but need a log in and PW to do so. We are scrambling to try recall or find his log in info, but so far coming up short. I was hoping you might recall the Admin name and PW you typically put on computers you had supported?? Any ideas? Much appreciated Cheers rich Richard J. Peet I just found a “Choke” folder on the hard disk, so I am sure you must have created an Admin name and PW. Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers rich On Jan 12, 2021, at 2:20 PM, Artichoke Consulting > wrote:

Peet Spent a little more time on my dad’s iMac. Looks as if he did not have a password to log on, but an Admin name and password are needed to make any changes. I want to repurpose it, so I need the Admin access. Hope you can help Much appreciated rich On Jan 12, 2021, at 6:14 PM, Bridges, Richard > wrote: Peet I just found a “Choke” folder on the hard disk, so I am sure you must have created an Admin name and PW. Rich, No, I'd not heard about Jim and you have belated condolences. There should be a user on the computer named UserAdmin. Or JimAdmin or similar that has the same password as Jim's user. That said to reset the password for another user on the machine (like choke), do the following ... https://www.ihash.eu/2015/10/how-to-reset-forgotten-admin-password-os-x-10-11-el-capitan/ I'm 90% certain his computer was running 10.11, but I'm not positive. Let me know if you have troubles resetting the PWD. Cheers.Peet
