#37110 FIS Site error
Hi Peet!
Can you help look at this website?IBS Insight - Log In We can’t login anymore. Get the attached errors. I opened a ticket with FIS and they said this “Can you have your IT team validate that this is in your org's site list. If it is not this will need to be added and pushed out to your machine(s) and that should eliminate the issue with the blank screen and overlapping words when launching the standalone urls.
<site url="insight-useradmin.fisglobal.com">
<compat-mode>IE8Enterprise</compat-mode>
<open-in>IE11</open-in>
</site>”
I attached the word doc and PDF as that’s what they sent to us. They said: Bank of Montana only has a production bank, so you would only use the IBS Insight Standalone security instance for production. Don't worry about / use the readiness URL. Please ensure you are using Edge browser. From the screen shot you showed for the production Insight where you got logged in, but got a blank launch screen, it appears one of 2 things are true: 1) The user does not have entitlements to any IBS Insight activities (unlikely if these ids have been used in the past to access IBS Insight) or 2) user desktop config is not correct. I have added the IBS Technical Requirements Guide - see page 52.” Page 52, looks like something you might need to help with?
Sorry for all the info! Trying to provide as much as possible!
Thank you!
Alex

Check edge://compat in your MS Edge. You should see the url in the list. If you do and it still doesn't work, then there's something wrong/missing with the settings FIS provided. If it isnt there, there's a big "Force update" button on the top of the page. If it's still not there after the force update, let me know (but that shouldn't be a thing). Cheers.Peet [embedded image]
It’s there, so will check with FIS. What exactly should I be reporting back to them? that you added as a trusted site and it’s still not working? Just wanted some technical terminology if possible 😊 Alex Alex Drayton Vice President Phone:[406.829.2662](tel:406.829.2662) | Fax:406.829.2355 [www.bankofmontana.com](http://www.bankofmontana.com/) 125 Bank Street, Suite 100 Missoula, MT 59802 [embedded image] [embedded image](http://www.bankofmontana.com/blog/) The information contained in this message is proprietary and/or confidential. Yup thats exactly what to tell them. you can even provide a screen shot of "edge://compat" to prove the point. The bigger deal here is that they're still not updating their infrastucture to modern web standards and require a compatibilty layer to run epically outdated protocols. Cheers.Peet

Hi Peet, Now they’re asking me to look at starting at page 19 of this attached guide to review the settings on our computer. Sorry! I am not sure what all to look at/where to go. Do I still need to go back to her and just say that it’s in the trusted sites already? Hi Alex, This one's pretty nutty. So much so that I had to engage claude to count how many changes were required to really look at everything they want you to do here. It's worth a call to chat about this when you can. Below was drafted by claude, but read and aproved by me. I’ve completed a full review of the IBS Technical Requirements Guide (June 2024) and have run an automated readiness check against our environment. Before we proceed with implementation, I want to flag some significant concerns about the scope of changes this guide requires and the impact on our security posture. Scale of Changes Required The guide calls for approximately 230 individual configuration changes per workstation, including: • 74 IE Advanced tab settings • 55 IE Security zone (Trusted Sites) custom-level settings • 39 firewall rules (26 production + 13 readiness) • 67 Enterprise Mode site list XML entries • 5 ActiveX DLLs to install and register • Registry keys, Group Policy changes, and TLS configuration Security Concern Of the ~230 settings, approximately 50–60 actively weaken the security posture of the workstation. Only about 12 settings improve security (primarily the TLS hardening). The security-reducing settings include: • Allowing unsigned ActiveX controls to download and run without prompting • Enabling ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting • Disabling the pop-up blocker for the entire Trusted Sites zone • Allowing mixed HTTP/HTTPS content (undermines encryption) • Automatic credential pass-through to all Trusted Sites without user confirmation • Forcing ~67 URLs to render through the legacy IE11 engine, which Microsoft no longer patches Critically, none of these weakened settings are scoped to FIS domains only. They apply to the entire IE Trusted Sites zone, meaning any other site in that zone (internal apps, SharePoint, vendor portals, etc.) would also inherit these permissive settings. The Advanced tab settings are even broader – they’re global to the entire IE engine. Based on our readiness scan, this workstation currently has none of the security-weakening settings enabled. Implementing the guide as-is means going from a secure default state to a significantly more permissive one. What We Need from FIS Before we implement the full guide, I’d like to scope these changes to only what’s necessary for the specific IBS modules we actually use. Could you relay the following questions to FIS support? Question 1: Which IBS modules are we licensed for? The guide covers the full IBS suite. We need FIS to confirm exactly which of the following we are licensed/contracted to use: 1. IBS Insight (core teller platform) 2. IBS Deposit Origination 3. IBS Service Request Management (SRM) 4. IBS Work Queue 5. IBS Contact Center 6. IBS Card Swipe 7. IBS Sales Management 8. IBS Exceptions 9. IBS Homepage 10. Mobius (document imaging) – ibs-mobiusview / ibs-mobiusasg 11. FIS Forms (forms-rendering server) Why this matters: Each module has its own URLs, ActiveX controls, and firewall rules. If we’re not using Sales Management, for example, we can skip 2 cab files, 2 DLL registrations, and several site list entries. We also noticed that the Mobius URLs (ibs-mobiusview.fisglobal.com and ibs-mobiusasg.fisglobal.com) are unreachable from our network – if we don’t use Mobius, those entries are unnecessary. Question 2: Do we need the Readiness/test environment? The guide includes 13 readiness/test URLs (e.g., sas-cc-rdy.fisglobal.com, insight-readiness.fisglobal.com). Do we actively use this environment for testing? If not, we can eliminate 13 firewall rules and 13 site list entries. Question 3: Which third-party integrations are active? The guide references several third-party vendor integrations. Which of these do we actually use? 1. Penley (production.penleyinc.com) 2. Harland Clarke (vanweb.harland.net, connectionpoint.clarkeamerican.com) 3. Deluxe (orderpro.deluxe.com) 4. FIS Decision Solutions / eFunds 5. Experian, Equifax, TransUnion (credit verification) 6. ACH Tracker (achtracker.metavante.org) Question 4: Can the IE security zone settings be scoped per-domain? The guide instructs us to configure the entire Trusted Sites zone with permissive ActiveX and scripting settings. This means every site in our Trusted Sites zone inherits those permissions – not just FIS URLs. Can FIS confirm whether these settings can be applied via Group Policy scoped only to *.fisglobal.com domains, rather than zone-wide? Or does their application architecture require the zone-level approach? Question 5: What is the minimum set of security zone settings required? The guide lists 55 IE security zone settings. Can FIS provide a minimum required list for the specific modules we use? For example, if we’re only running IBS Insight and Homepage, do we really need “Download unsigned ActiveX controls” set to Enable, or is that only required for Sales Management’s OnyxMaskEdit2Dual control? Question 6: Is there a modernization timeline? The guide itself acknowledges (in the IE Settings section) that these settings apply “until the IBS Insight and Sales and Service applications are modernized and using a native MS Edge browser.” Does FIS have a timeline for when IBS applications will run natively in Edge without requiring IE Mode and ActiveX? This would help us understand whether we’re making a short-term accommodation or a long-term commitment to a weakened security posture. I’ve already completed the Enterprise Mode site list (XML), built the ActiveX installation scripts, and have a full readiness audit tool ready to deploy. Once we hear back from FIS on the scope, I can tailor the implementation to only what’s needed and minimize our exposure. Happy to walk through any of this in more detail if it’d be helpful. Thanks, Peet
Alright. Tested the other computer and no pop-ups or anything happened. I logged into three different sites including this one,[https://insight-useradmin.fisglobal.com](https://insight-useradmin.fisglobal.com/). Emilie, Taran and Hannah can all successfully login to the URL so thank you!
