Peter,

Most of the time I can tell what authorization requests are actually requesting, but some of the built-in Microsoft stuff like this one isn’t clear, I just want to make sure that this was an intentional request and if there’s anything I can do to help you get something going on your device.

Thanks.Peet

Thanks. I was trying to watch some dashcam/body cam videos we received from the MT Highway Patrol, I think through this AVViewer App. I thought I had watched them before, but it was looking to update or download the app.

Peter,
TLDR; The AAViewer.exe is dated and needs older frameworks to run. I'm pushing those to your computer, but in the meantime VLC Player (already installed on your computer) should be able to play the videos.

This one took me a bit to deconstruct, but what I think this comes down to is AAViewer.exe (ICV_BEPlayer_CTRL) is a Panasonic app video player app that acts as a wrapper for Quicktime/Windows video codecs to play files. I'm working on installing its pre-requisits on a device to double check it's functionality. But while I'm working on that, you do have VLC (Video Lan Client) installed on your computer and it's a swiss army knife for video playback, supporting a vast amount of codecs.

If the video you have from the mhp are unindexed and just standard files VLC should be able to open them. I'm pushing the .Net 2/3 reuirement to your computer now, but it can take up to 40 or so minutes to install. Its a much older application framework that Microsoft still supports for backward compatibility.

I'll ping you when .Net 2/3 is installed on your computer and you can run the AAViewer.exe

Cheers.Peet

Thanks. I tried with VLC and it opens the video and plays it but it is all completely unviewable. Not sure I’m doing that right.

Yeah, i discovered this myself. Thisis a completly proprietary format and completely propritary sofware to access the proprietary fomat.

I've download the IVC folder which contains the .exe and all its supporting files. As an FYI, the entire IVC folder is *required* to use the app. The 41KB AVViewer.exe is just a stub for the other 75 or so application ressources in the IVC folder. I've attempted to get this running on 2 Windows installtions and I'm rebuilding a 3rd from scratch. I've not encountered the issues I'm seeing today installing .net3.5 on Windows 8, 10 or 11 (it has not been included with the os by default since 7) and it's a bit of a head scratcher.

I'll let you know.

Cheers.Peet

I think sometimes MHP sends a link or instructions to use the app that I was trying to access, but it didn’t work when trying to use it this week. I think it worked before, many many months ago when we got this.
