Hi Peet!

It’s been awhile! Before EJ left GVLT, she submitted a campaign for Teams texting. Teams got back to us on that with approval, but I never followed up, and now the campaign has been cancelled.

I’d like to take this up again as we want this service! I wasn’t sure if you had provided her with any guidance for requesting a new campaign such as texting, but… if yes, would you please provide me with some guidance on this? Or send me a link the place where I might go and do that?

Good to hear from you.

Here’s Microsoft’s documentation for setting up texting in Teams:

It’s both more and less complicated than it should be. You’ll need a public-facing [privacy policy](https://artichoke.consulting/messaging/privacy/) and [terms & conditions](https://artichoke.consulting/messaging/terms/), plus a detailed submission that includes example messages.

The process itself is pretty straightforward once you know what it wants. I actually used ChatGPT to help draft mine after a couple of false starts — it’s surprisingly good at hitting Microsoft’s oddly specific requirements. Once approved, it just runs quietly in the background and you never have to think about it again.

Let me know if you’d like a hand getting it set up. It should be a project once we schedule some time for it.

I appreciate your reply and the info you provided. Curious… Are you now in the business of Teams SMS? I know you weren’t when we were actively working with you earlier this year. It would be good for me to know in case we do want some consulting help.

I actually scheduled a talk with Teams support for tomorrow – we’ll see how helpful that is!

Elin,

Yes, my business phone(s) are on Teams and using SMS. It works as expected and worth the bit of hassle it takes to set up. As an FYI ALL VOIP phone systems have the same requiremt for texting and MS has gotten much better about the process. Still not frictionless, but it only took about 1.5/2.0 hours to implement including building the TnC and Privacy statements.
