Hi Peet

I cannot get my computer to get off this screen. I have plugged in a hard wire mouse but it does not recognize anything. Also held down the power button but that did nothing.

Thank you

Holding down the power button always does a hard power off. For most instances a full 10 seconds works. At most a full 30 seconds. That said, if all else fails, unplug the power from the back of the computer.

Before proceeding I need a more complete explanation of "Also held down the power button but that did nothing."
Does that mean you held down the power button for a full 30 seconds and the light on the power button did not go off and the screen displayed the same information?
Or does that mean you held the button, and the screen went black and the power button light did not turn off but when the screen came back on it popped up exactly on this screen?
Or does that mean you held the power button down, the screen went black, the power light went off on the computer. You hit the power button again, an the computer started up, you sall the "Dell" logo screen and then it ended up back on this screen?

Thanks.Peet

Ok then, I guess I was not holding it down long enough to get it to do a restart. The 30 seconds did the trick.

Thank you,
