Hi Peet,

I need some urgent-ish help with our domains.

First thing, MontanaForever.org. I have an email from last fall asking if you could take over management. Were you ever able to do that? I logged into my NameCheap account and appears to have expired...can you help me take it back if we can?

Our web CMS, Webflow, is also requesting we re-authenticate our website this month. Screenshot attached. It says:

"Update your site’s domains by November 3, 2025 for the best security and reliability. You can use the buttons to bulk update domains or update them manually. To update manually, visit the admin console of your domain registrar (the website you purchased your domain from) and update the CNAME record to cdn.webflow.com. It may take up to 48 hours for changes to take effect."

Can you help me get that update done? Can you help me understand what we need to do to take back montanaforever.org?

I looked back at ticket #26280 to get an idea about "MontanaForever.org". Reading the ticket, it looks like that domain is in FVLT namecheap account that I don't have access to and the last communication was that you were checking on whether FVLT would renew it past June 2025.

It looks like the domain expired 7/30/25. There's a 30day recovery period that has passed, but it looks like it's still registered with name cheap, so I'm usure of it's current status. What do you see in your namecheap account? If you'd like me to look please feel free to put the namecheap credentials in the "Leana-Artichoke" vault in 1password.

I've updated the fvlt.org and www.fvlt.org dns records to point to cdn.webflow.com

Not surprised that I was the one to not follow up last year re getting you access to MontanaForever....apologies.

I've added my NameCheap login to that "Leana-Artichoke" vault in 1Password.

When I log in, I don't see anything under Expiring/Expired because the window as passed. I apparently didn't see their emails to me about our registration expiring. I've attached my the most recent message in my NameCheap inbox. I'd say, if reactivating that domain is $200 or less, let's do it. If it's more, let's chat about how much more.

Lena,

I was sure I already replied here. Trying to recover a domain from one of these sorts of prospective scavengers is a crap shoot. If you'd like to try to get it back you could "Make an offer" through namecheap. I think going this route is likely your best bet. The domain is still registered through NameCheap for what that's worth.

The minimum offer through NameCheap is $200 so it's within your range.

You can also go through a broker like Sedo

But I'm betting that will blow by the $200 limit.

Make and offer, and see where it goes. If it's $250 or less, just do it.

I was able to get Name cheap to reinstate the domain for you. Their fee was $77 and I had 1.75 hours of billable on the issue. Would you like me to move this into my Namecheap where I monitor renewals?

Eventually we should get this over to Porkbun with your primary domain, but that's for another day.
